If not, is something Apple should look into changing? If I have access to the phone using the Find my Phone app using the correct email and password for the account the phone is hooked to, shouldn't I have the ability to change the password remotely to take back full access to the phone and lock out someone who found the phone and set a password? Is their a way to override the current password and create a new one remotely so that the person who found it can no longer have access to the phone. This does me no good as they can easily use the phone since they are the ones who set the password.
Problem is, I can only lock it with the currently set password that the person who found it set on it.
I use the Find my Phone app to locate my phone and try to lock it so that the person that found it can't use it. I lose my phone and someone finds it and being that it does not have a password set, they set one of their own. Let's say I am traveling and currently do not have a password set on my iPhone.

There are third-party tracking applications available for Windows, but they won’t be able to lock down a PC at the firmware level like Apple’s Mac solution can.I would like to know if there is a way to remotely lock an iPad or iPhone using the Find my Phone app with a new password in the following scenario.

The message will persist even through factory resets on iOS 7. You can also enter a custom message that will be displayed on the device’s lock screen - you could provide details of where you can be reached if someone finds the device. Lost Mode allows you to set a new passcode to prevent the thief from using your device. Lost Mode (iPhones and iPads): Enable Lost Mode as soon as possible when your device is lost or stolen.This is ideal if you’ve lost the device somewhere nearby - maybe you don’t know where you left it in your house or perhaps you dropped your iPhone somewhere. This happens immediately - if the device is offline, the two-minute sound will start playing the next time it comes online.
